The Brief & The Strategic Friction
The Objective
Help new visitors quickly understand what’s on this week, which session might suit them, and how to try a class without committing.
The Challenge
Fitness websites often lead with intensity and transformation promises, which can feel off-putting to people looking for a more welcoming, small-group experience. Heart-rate zones set the club apart, but can sound technical. The site needed to make the idea feel personal, approachable, and easy to act on.
What We Changed
The Voice & Experience Overhaul
- 02.1
A Calmer Voice
Reframed the messaging around rhythm instead of intensity. “Get in sync, one beat at a time” introduces a voice centred on pace, recovery, and making room for yourself.
- 02.2
The Week, Up Front
Opened with a seven-day schedule showing each class, training zone, time, and coach—so visitors can explore the week at a glance.
- 02.3
Zones You Can Understand
Added a zone dial that uses a visitor’s age to estimate heart-rate ranges, then explains each zone in everyday language.
- 02.4
Clearly Framed Stories
Marked member stories as illustrative examples, so they don’t imply that specific progress or results are guaranteed.
- 02.5
One Route to a Free Class
Connected booking, membership, and contact actions to one short form for requesting a free first session.
Key Strategic & Architectural Decisions
- 03.1
Self-Host Everything
Served the runtime, CMS data, images, and fonts from the site’s own domain, supporting a strict Content Security Policy without third-party requests.
- 03.2
One Page, Clear Anchors
Brought the timetable, classes, coaches, stories, membership details, and FAQs together on one page, with navigation that leads directly to each section.
- 03.3
Colour With a Purpose
Kept the photography black and white, using pulse red to highlight the active zone, current day, and calls to action—so colour helps guide the next step.
- 03.4
Motion With Restraint
Kept the expanding schedule cards and scroll reveals while respecting visitors who prefer reduced motion.
Every build is checked against Google Lighthouse and current web best practices for speed, accessibility, and search before it goes live.
